Camera Brand Hubs

Built around ownership, not brand rankings

Different systems for different use cases

FAQ

A review covers one camera body and assesses it against our six-point criteria, while a brand hub takes a step back and looks at the system as a whole: the lens catalog, the line-up at different price points, and whether the system is worth investing in at all, regardless of any one camera body.

We do not own or shoot Sony equipment, and therefore do not have enough hands-on experience to build a responsible Sony hub, which is a result of our system choice, not our attitude toward Sony or Sony users, and you can read the full explanation in “No Sony, and here’s why”.

Lenses are the crux of a brand hub because the real decision isn’t so much which body you buy first, but which lens catalog, upgrade path, and ecosystem you are buying into for years to come, and accessories not specific to a mount, such as microphones, lighting, and tripods, go into Buying Guides instead of here.

Every time there is a significant addition to a one of the systems and we get to thoroughly tested, the new information will be added and the guides updated.

Compiled and tested by Gregor. Brand hubs are revisited when a system’s lineup, pricing, or lens catalog changes meaningfully.
